My book making practice has developed from a love of words and their interpretation and meanings - both the obvious and more obscure.  I have played with four English words and the representation of them in codes, signs and symbols using the printing process of blind embossing to explore how they can aid and also hinder communication.

extrude, exude, elude, exclude: (page section image far left) blind embossed Somerset Velvet Newsprint 280gsm ring bound book, black cover & window with woven copper embossed title, 30x30cm, Ed. 15, 2007.

Using a playful approach to making connections with other people I have been leaving postcards in cities to communicate with strangers who find them and have been amazed at the responses I have received.  The Berlin postcard responses (image near left) are re-formed to give back to new strangers in another place I will visit.

Talking with strangers - postcard sized spiral bound book, inkjet printed on 90gms paper with black card cover.  A6, 2008. Ed. 24 to be given away to strangers, signed with stamped postcards included for response.  Ed. 15 unsigned for sale.
