BA Fine Art Course, Wirral Metropolitan College

   Working with the format of the artists’ book, in the 2nd Year Printmaking Elective of the BA Fine Art Course at Wirral Metropolitan College, has given students and staff the opportunity to imaginatively engage with the meaning and context of the word ‘book’ and to consider it as a vehicle for fine art practice.

Our responses encompass a wide range of approaches reflecting our diverse preoccupations and methodologies whilst referring to, and sometimes challenging the expectation of, the book form.  Our participation in artists’ book fairs, Manchester 2006 and 2007 and London Print Studios’ ‘scissorspaperstone’ 2008, is a welcome and refreshing aspect of book art production and practice.

As a group we have found that our shared engagement with, and our public display of, these book works has been an enormously enriching and rewarding experience and so we have begun this web site as a further platform for our book works.
